If we in red state America fail to treat women and children with the compassion and care we have always promised as we advocated for an end to abortion, that failure will be highlighted and leveraged by abortion proponents to influence purple states. If the pro-life community shows a lack of empathy and care for women in crisis--or worse yet, tries to prosecute and jail them--it will be the equivalent of writing a check for millions of dollars to Planned Parenthood and the abortion lobby. The left will take our failure to live up to our own rhetoric about caring for women, use it to scare moderates in purple states, and beat us all over the legislative court.
