A federal judge this week blocked three Arkansas pro-life laws from going into effect, including one that would ban abortions targeting unborn babies diagnosed with Down Syndrome. U.S. District Judge Kristine Baker issued a preliminary injunction Tuesday blocking three laws: Act 493, which bans abortion after 18 weeks; Act 619, which bans abortion if the purpose is to end the life of an unborn baby with Down syndrome; and Act 700, which requires that abortion doctors be board-certified or board-eligible in obstetrics and gynecology. Springdale, Arkansas city council members vote to declare their city a "Pro-Life City." City council members approved the proposal with a 6-1 vote during a packed meeting. This move comes after Planned Parenthood in Fayetteville closed its doors. The Springdale mayor says this doesn't establish any laws; therefore, can't prevent Planned Parenthood from opening a facility in the area. However, the mayor said that the general consensus from the city council is that this resolution would discourage Planned Parenthood from coming to Springdale. Read more... ...

Kentucky has moved to ban abortions once the heartbeat of an unborn baby is detected, which is usually around six weeks into a pregnancy. Governor Matt Bevin ceremonially signed Senate Bill 9 into law, along with three other bills that focus on different pro-life objectives. Bevin declared that he was “deeply grateful to be governor of a state that so overwhelmingly values the sanctity of human life. The Ohio Supreme Court declined to hear an appeal from the Dayton area’s lone abortion clinic in its fight to stay open. Women’s Med wanted the state’s top court to reverse a ruling from two lower courts that upheld the Ohio Department of Health’s order for the clinic to close. The state said Women’s Med did not secure a written transfer agreement — in which patients could be sent from the clinic to another hospital, if more care is needed — from a local hospital as required. But in a new interview with the Guardian published today, on the same day her new album was released, Taylor Swift endorsed abortion and trashed President Trump. When it comes to abortion, Swift said, "Obviously I'm pro-choice." The anti-abortion group Live Action is considering its legal options after one of the group's key statements was labeled “false” by a fact-checking organization that works with Facebook. Live Action President Lila Rose told Fox News that a statement in two videos posted by her group that abortion is not medically necessary was rated false.
