Four non-profit medical groups have filed a brief with a federal appeals court in support of a 20-week abortion limit in North Carolina. The state of North Carolina has "legitimate interests in regulating and limiting the practice of abortion," the brief said. "These important interests include using the State's voice and regulatory authority to show its profound respect for the 'life of the unborn' and protecting the health of women from 'the outset of pregnancy'," it continued. A California judge denied a gag order that would have blocked pro-life activists David Daleiden and Sandra Merrit and their attorneys from speaking to the public about the preliminary hearing that is currently underway. California Attorney General Xavier Becerra had asked the Superior Court of California for San Francisco County to “limit the statements” of the parties, days after the head of a biotech company allegedly admitted in court to procuring intact fetal heads and beating hearts from abortions. Pro-life groups are decrying an effort by a European doctor to sue the United States Food and Drug Administration in order to continue selling medical abortion pills online. Dr. Rebecca Gomperts is a licensed physician in Austria and the founder of Aid Access, a European company that prescribes and mails misoprostol and mifepristone, the drugs required for a medical abortion, to women in the United States. In March, the FDA issued a cease-and-desist to Aid Access, ordering the group to stop prescribing and mailing the drugs to patients in the United States because they were unregulated. Read more......

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has admitted 'clear bias' in blocking pro-life group Live Action's videos, saying it was wrong to censor. In a meeting with the social media giant's executive and Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO), Lila Rose, founder and CEO of pro-life group Live Action, confronted Zuckerberg over the mistake. Despite the admission of guilt, Facebook did not apologize for the mistake, nor for telling thousands of Live Action's followers that the nonprofit was "false news." Read more......

Attorneys representing two Southern states with restrictive abortion laws faced federal judges in court cases that could reverse recent gains made by pro-life advocates. In Georgia, lawyers representing the state argued before U.S. District Judge Steve Jones in Atlanta that Georgia’s ban on abortions after a fetal heartbeat can be detected should be allowed to take effect while a legal challenge is pending. In his appeal of a federal court ruling, Attorney General Curtis Hill wrote "Ultimately, this Court should settle the issue by ruling that Bellotti is inapplicable to parental notice laws. Extending Bellotti is inappropriate in light of the governmental interests served by parental notice laws, which are far broader than the interests served by parental consent laws. Crucially, even after the abortion, parents still have rights and responsibilities in the care and upbringing of their child. Ignorance of such a profound event in their young daughter’s life is a barrier to exercising those rights and carrying out that responsibility." Read more......
