West Virginia Democratic senator Joe Manchin has called taxpayer funding of abortion a "red line" issue in any reconciliation bill. Two pro-life Republican senators, Steve Daines of Montana and James Lankford of Oklahoma, released a memo highlighting multiple provisions in the House Democrats' $1.75 trillion bill released last week that would fund abortion. In the new 1,684-page reconciliation bill that Democrats released, one section of the bill has been changed in a way that at least appears to attempt to exclude elective-abortion coverage — but actually fails to do so. The Ohio legislature has proposed a sweeping pro-life bill with an enforcement mechanism similar to Texas's recently enacted law, empowering private citizens to sue anyone who "knowingly engages in conduct that aids or abets the performance or inducement of an abortion." While the Texas law, which took effect in September after the Supreme Court declined to review it, prohibits abortions after a heartbeat is detected, the Ohio version appears to outlaw helping an individual seeking any abortion, regardless of gestation time. Sponsored by Republican State Representatives Jena Powell and Thomas Hall, along with 33 Republican co-sponsors, the 2363 Act proposed on Tuesday also forbids...

In a 5–3 vote, the Oklahoma supreme court has issued a temporary injunction blocking three pro-life laws slated to take effect on November 1. Earlier in October, a district judge blocked two other pro-life laws in Oklahoma from taking effect but allowed these three to remain in place, sending the case up to the state supreme court. Two of those laws would have established a series of requirements around chemical-abortion drugs, the most common abortion method in the first twelve weeks of pregnancy. Among other provisions, the laws required doctors to obtain informed consent from women, outline the risks and possible complications of chemical-abortion drugs, and notify women of a safe,...

Three major pro-life organizations have teamed up to promote "abortion-pill reversal" (APR), a method that doctors have pioneered to halt and reverse the effects of unwanted chemical abortions. The American Association of Pro-Life Obstetricians and Gynecologists (AAPLOG) has unveiled a new page of its website to educate health-care professionals about APR and encourage them to become providers. In conjunction with two other pro-life groups, Heartbeat International and Live Action, AAPLOG has produced a lengthy video and an FAQ page offering detailed information about the science and success of APR. The Roe ruling highlighted the greatest logical flaw in support for abortion: for abortion to be illegal at some point before birth (and even most pro-choice Americans agree it should be illegal in the very late stages), you have to pick that point in time. But when? As the issue comes to the forefront of national debate yet again with the court hearing oral arguments on December 1 in Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization, here are the many reasons the arguments in favor of abortion are wrong. Read more......

New York Attorney General Letitia James has dropped a lawsuit against a group of pro-life sidewalk counselors, including 10 church members, accused of harassing people at an abortion clinic. In a dismissal agreement released in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York, the state agreed to dismiss its complaints against around a dozen sidewalk counselors in return for no counterclaims being filed. The state will have to pay the litigation costs of the lawsuit. Liberty Counsel Founder and Chairman Mat Staver, whose organization helped represent one of the sidewalk counselors, considered the dismissal a "great victory." "The New York attorney general's lawsuit...

When Roe was decided, these amazing structures could barely be seen inside the womb. At the time, ultrasound presented only a dim reflection of the developing child. Static images consisted of only simple white dots on a black background. Sonography had just been recognized as a separate profession by the American Medical Association, but there were not yet any accredited sonography programs in the United States. There were no medical textbooks with systematic discussions of ultrasound techniques and findings in obstetrical and gynecological sonography. Read more......

For the last few months, small municipalities – many without any standing abortion clinics have outlawed abortion. Though women in those cities can still travel to get an abortion, the bans send an intimidating message. Bypassing statehouses and targeting smaller towns and cities governed by council has emerged as a successful strategy for pro-life advocates in recent years. In July, a report from the Guttmacher Institute revealed that at least 30 towns in six states – Arkansas, Indiana, New Mexico, New York, Ohio and Texas – have approved municipal abortion bans in the last three years. Mississippi Governor Tate Reeves spent Sunday defending the state's pro-life laws in a case that will be heard by the U.S. Supreme Court this week and then joining others of like-mind to pray for those who will be considering the case. The Supreme Court will hear oral arguments on Wednesday regarding Mississippi's 15-week abortion ban law. Governor Reeves said abortion is barbaric. He called abortion "the greatest evil of our day." The Governor went on to say that he believes God is doing great things in America as more people are agreeing with the pro-life argument as science proves them right. Read more......

Republican lawmakers are again demanding that Google cease censoring abortion pill reversal ads from the pro-life organization Live Action. "We are deeply disappointed that you have not reversed Google's unjust decision to censor life-saving information on abortion pill reversal," wrote Sen. Steve Daines of Montana, Rep. Doug Lamborn of Colorado, and Rep. Jim Banks of Indiana. "We had hoped to receive assurances of Google's commitment to uphold the fundamental principle of freedom of speech and follow the science," the Republicans wrote. "Unfortunately, Google's response only increases our alarm." Read more......
