Half a dozen pro-life activists were found guilty of violating a federal law that forbids protesters from blocking the entrances to abortion clinics. The U.S. Department of Justice said in a press release that the six defendants in the Nashville, Tennessee, federal trial were "each convicted of a felony conspiracy against rights and a Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act offense." The federal FACE Act prohibits "violent, threatening, damaging, and obstructive conduct intended to injure, intimidate, or interfere with the right to seek, obtain, or provide reproductive health services." At least three bills have been filed in the 2024 session of the Kentucky General Assembly that would roll back Kentucky’s current abortion ban, and pro-life leaders are calling on lawmakers to reject them. Rep. Lindsey Burke, D-Lexington, along with other abortion advocates announced the filing of two pro-abortion bills. HB 428 would essentially re-legalize abortion in Kentucky and HB 429 would make it easier for women to obtain abortions outside the state. Read more......

In the wake of Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, the Justice Department increased prosecution of pro-life protestors outside of abortion clinics. Those cases included both peaceful protestors and those who were obstructing clinic entrances, which is a violation of the federal Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act. More than a dozen protestors have now been convicted of federal crimes in the last year, and face sentences of more than 10 years. Eight more face trial in Michigan in April. The secular pro-life group Progressive Anti-Abortion Uprising (PAAU) originally obtained the remains of the aborted babies in March 2022 from the Washington Surgi-Clinic run by Dr. Cesare Santangelo, an OB-GYN and well-known abortionist. PAAU announced that the D.C. medical examiner's office told the group's legal counsel of the medical examiner's intent to "destroy" the remains of the babies — known among pro-life activists as the "D.C. Five" — at the behest of the Department of Justice. Until the Catholic Church is committed to upholding the Magisterial teaching; Catholic philanthropists, business leaders, and hospital corporations take a more proactive role in ethical medical research; and pro-life organizations begin educating about and supporting this integral anti-abortion cause, this problem will continue to grow unchecked for all stakeholders. Several pro-life scholars are pushing back on a recently published study that claims abortion pills are "safe" and "effective" when prescribed without an in-person meeting and distributed through the mail. The referenced study, which was published by pro-abortion academics in the peer-reviewed medical journal Nature Medicine, claimed that telehealth chemical abortion "is effective, safe, and comparable to published rates of in-person medication abortion care." A new report finds that there were more than 16,000 additional births in Texas in 2022 — more than 13,000 of them to Hispanic women — and wrongly concludes that the state's Heartbeat Act helped drive an increase in Hispanic children and prevented what would have been a further decline in black and white births. The report, by the University of Houston's Institute for Research on Women, Gender and Sexuality, notes that Hispanic women were "especially affected" by the pro-life law and face "more challenges" in accessing "abortion." The Right To Life, along with other pro-life organizations, are asking Arkansans to decline to sign the petition to put an abortion amendment on the November ballot, calling it "more extreme than Roe v. Wade". "This will allow abortions up to the moment of birth, up to 5 months in pregnancy without any kind of questions asked," said Rose Mimms, executive director for Right To Life.
