Wellspring Health Access and pro-abortion group Chelsea's Fund filed a lawsuit against the state over two new laws aimed at protecting unborn babies. Wellspring is the only abortion facility in the state, located in the central city of Casper. It stopped performing abortions after the new laws took effect. Two abortionists, a nurse, and an organization that administers abortion pills after remote consultations also joined the lawsuit. Gov. Mark Gordon last week signed into law two bills that immediately placed strict restrictions on facilities that perform abortions. Read more......

The New Jersey attorney general is facing impeachment, in part, for allegedly targeting pregnancy resource centers for investigation because of their pro-life stance and for demanding the names of their staff and donors in the process. Republicans in the New Jersey Assembly filed articles of impeachment against Attorney General Matthew Platkin on Thursday. They accused him of targeting "certain organizations based upon the political beliefs of the organization, specifically pro-life pregnancy centers." The resolution refers to Platkin targeting First Choice Women's Resource Centers, which has five locations in the state. Read more......

Scholars with the Charlotte Lozier Institute have entered into arbitration against the publisher of a medical journal that published three of the scholars’ scientific studies about abortion but later retracted them after receiving complaints from pro-abortion advocates. In their arbitration demand, the scholars claim that Sage Publications Inc. pursued a political agenda in retracting the articles after previously praising them for their scientific rigor. The articles were published in 2019, 2021 and 2022 in the peer-reviewed journal Health Services Research and Managerial Epidemiology. Read more......

A new state law took effect that requires women in Wyoming to receive an ultrasound no less than 48 hours before receiving abortion pills. The state legislature earlier that day overrode Republican Gov. Mark Gordon's veto of the bill, which he said was unnecessarily invasive because it requires a transvaginal ultrasound, rather than an abdominal scan. In his veto letter, Gordon also said he rejected the law because it did not include exceptions for rape or incest. The state House voted 45-16 to override the veto and the state Senate voted 22-9 to do the same. The requirement is the second pro-life law the legislature has passed this year. Read more... ...

Missouri residents donating to pregnancy resource centers that do not provide abortions could enjoy significant reductions in their state tax bill if a new GOP bill passes into law. SB 681, sponsored by state Sen. Jill Carter, a Republican, would establish a 100% tax credit for such donations beginning in 2026, up from a 70% credit for the years 2021 to 2025. Essentially, for every dollar donated, one dollar would be deducted from the taxpayer's annual income tax obligation. Read more......

Pro-life groups praised the Trump administration's recent move to drop a Biden administration lawsuit against an Idaho law over what the government previously argued was a conflict between Idaho's abortion restrictions and federal law governing emergency health care. Supporters of abortion restrictions passed by Idaho argued it made appropriate exceptions for emergency circumstances, while opponents argued the law runs afoul of federal requirements to provide stabilizing care to pregnant women experiencing adverse effects in emergency rooms. The city of Minneapolis, Minnesota, has agreed to pay $450,000 in attorneys’ fees after settling a lawsuit over sidewalk counseling with a pro-life ministry last year. CatholicVote previously reported that Pro-Life Action Ministries were unconstitutionally barred from standing on public sidewalks around a Minneapolis Planned Parenthood location to offer support and counseling to women seeking abortions. Pro-Life Action Ministries sued in 2023, alleging that the buffer zone law violated its advocates’ rights to free speech, freedom of expressive association, and freedom of religious expression. Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey has issued a cease-and-desist order barring Planned Parenthood from providing chemical abortions. The order argues Planned Parenthood is in violation of state law requiring it to have an approved plan for treating women who experience complications from the dangerous practice. Planned Parenthood Great Rivers, formerly Planned Parenthood of the St. Louis Region and Southwest Missouri, which covers St. Louis, the Ozarks and surrounding regions, called the order harassment. The Missouri House of Representatives overwhelmingly passed the "Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Act" 109-32, with four Democrats joining all Republicans in approving it. The proposal would require doctors to "exercise the same degree of professional skill, care, and diligence to preserve the life and health of the child as a reasonably diligent and conscientious health care provider would render to any other child born alive at the same gestational age." It would also allow people to hold abortionists civilly liable for causing the death of a child born alive following an attempted abortion, including deaths caused by negligence. Read more......
