Texas Senators passed the Woman and Child Protection Act, which would crack down on abortion pills sent in the mail or brought in from other states and countries. On the same day, the Life of the Mother Act and Conscience Protections for Health Care Professionals also passed the Texas Senate. The Woman and Child Protection Act (SB 2880 & HB 5510) seeks to combat the growing threat of abortion pills being sent to Texas from other states and countries. If passed, Texas will become the first to attack the abortion industry's underground network—setting a powerful example for the rest of the nation to follow. Read more......

A volunteer network in Massachusetts is working to send thousands of abortion pills into pro-life states where they are illegal. The group the Massachusetts Medication Abortion Access Project (MAP) is working to package and mail the pills. While obtaining the abortion pill is legal in Massachusetts, it could be violating the laws of pro-life states. These volunteers, however, say they don't care. "I couldn't care less what the law says. This is the right thing to do," a male volunteer named Sunny said. Read more......

ProPublica has received a 2025 Pulitzer Prize for a report critics say falsely blamed a Georgia woman's death on pro-life legislation — despite evidence that her fatal complications stemmed from the abortion pill. The reporting team, which included Kavitha Surana, Lizzie Presser, Cassandra Jaramillo, and Stacy Kranitz, was awarded the prize for coverage the Associated Press described as "reporting on pregnant women who died after doctors delayed urgent care in states with strict abortion laws," according to Shawn Fleetwood of The Federalist. Left unmentioned was that the story at the center of the award has been widely challenged for its misleading framing. Read more......

The new bill forces Pregnancy Care Center of Rockford and the Diocese of Springfield to hire employees who don’t share their beliefs about the sanctity of life, and it prohibits them from disciplining employees if they choose to have abortions themselves. In addition, the statute prohibits organizations from expressing certain messages about abortion that could be deemed “offensive,” and it requires organizations that offer accommodations for new mothers to also provide accommodations for women seeking abortions. Alliance Defending Freedom filed a lawsuit in March 2025 challenging the bill. Read more......

South Carolina tried to pass a fetal heartbeat law in 2021, but it was blocked by the state's high court that same year. The bill was revived in 2023 by Gov. Henry McMaster after the fall of Roe V. Wade. The 2023 Fetal Heartbeat and Protection from Abortion Act banned abortion after steady cardiac activity was detected in an ultrasound, which the state says happens within six weeks of conception. The legislation includes exceptions to the ban in cases of medical emergencies, rape, incest or fatal fetal anomalies. Read more......

Abortions performed by Planned Parenthood reached an all-time high in the two years after the U.S. Supreme Court ruled there is no constitutional right to abortion and the ensuing rise of abortion restrictions in many states, drawing amplified calls for lawmakers to prevent public funding from going to abortion businesses. The nation's largest abortion provider performed over 400,000 abortions, collected nearly $800 million in taxpayer funding in 2023-2024, and decreased the share of cancer screenings and other health services it offers, according to the corporation's 2023-2024 annual report. An unborn baby boy is depending on his pregnant mother's life support and Georgia's pro-life heartbeat bill to survive. Thirty-year-old Adrian Smith was declared brain-dead in February after she suffered brain clots when she was nine weeks pregnant. Currently, she is on life support at 21 weeks pregnant, and doctors are hoping to sustain the baby boy to 32 weeks, when he will be fully developed and can be delivered via Cesarean section, Students for Life of America reports. Although brain dead means Smith is legally dead, Georgia's Living Infants and Equality Act protects the life in her womb. Read more......

On 15 May 2025, the findings of the largest known real world analysis of medical abortion were released to the world via a nationwide webcast in the United States. The findings of the study include that 11 per cent of the time, there is an adverse side effect experienced by the woman within 45 days of taking these pills. These adverse effects include excessive bleeding, infection, multiple and prolonged hospitalisation and emergency department visits and failure to diagnose ectopic pregnancy. This challenges the 0.5 per cent risk of an adverse event that is currently published, which is 22 times lower. Read more......

The Missouri Supreme Court ordered District Judge Jerri Zhang to vacate her earlier orders from December and February, which had blocked the state's pro-life laws. The Court said Zhang applied the incorrect standard when issuing those rulings and ordered that abortions be paused for the time being. Planned Parenthood had to cease committing abortions following the state Supreme Court's ruling. In February, the judge had ruled that abortion facilities in Missouri do not need to meet certain health and safety licensing standards. Read more......
