Canada's advertising industry watchdog says an online ad decrying Canada's "pro-death culture" breached its ad standards code, and played upon fears to mislead viewers. The advertisement shows an image of the Grim Reaper holding a scythe on a dark field under an overcast sky with text asking, "HAVE YOU HAD ENOUGH OF CANADA'S PRO-DEATH CULTURE? YES!" Prolife Alberta executive director Richard Dur said, "Prolife Alberta will continue to speak plainly about these issues, whether or not an over-eager private regulator imagines it has the authority to police political expression." U.S. Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) Committee Chairman Bill Cassidy sent investigative letters seeking information from three abortion drug manufacturers. Separately, he also sent the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) a new letter demanding immediate action on mail-order abortion drugs. The investigation comes as a new report from a pro-abortion group claims over 1.1 million U.S. abortions in 2025, with 26 percent growth of mail-order drug abortions in states with laws protecting babies throughout pregnancy on the books. Some Catholic colleges ranked among the best for pro-life support for women, while others were among the worst for their ties to abortion clinics. In an audit of more than 700 Christian colleges and universities, the Christian Schools Project found that 1 in 7 Christian colleges referred students to Planned Parenthood for health care or future jobs, among other pro-abortion "infractions." While the percentage of abortions using medication had been growing every year since 2000, when the FDA first approved mifepristone for pregnancy termination, the Biden administration's decision to drop the in-person dispensing requirement supercharged its use. More than 60% of all abortions were done using medication rather than a procedure in 2023, the most recent year for which statistics are available. Anthony Pro-Life America is calling for Marty Makary, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration commissioner, to be fired from his position, citing concerns that he "slow-walked" a study into the effects of abortion drugs on women. Makary and Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. promised lawmakers and state attorneys general that the FDA was in the process of compiling a safety study on the chemical abortion drugs mifepristone and misoprostol. A major pro-life organization is calling on Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier to investigate a nonprofit it accuses of running "deceptive and misleading" abortion pill ads across the state. In a Sept. 19 letter, 40 Days for Life urged Uthmeier to take action against Mayday Health, a New York-based nonprofit that has placed billboards around Florida promoting the abortion pills mifepristone and misoprostol. The pro-life group argues the ads fail to disclose critical information, including the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) black box warnings about risks like hemorrhage and infection, while also omitting federally required safety protocols and potential legal consequences for Floridians. In October, Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast's operations will be taken over by Planned Parenthood of Greater Texas, per local media reports. With the consolidation comes the closures of Prevention Park and a clinic in southwest Houston, leaving four remaining facilities on the outskirts of the city. In neighboring Louisiana, Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast announced it will cease operations entirely, shuttering both the Baton Rouge and New Orleans clinics.
